Debbie's Christmas
Debbie Metcalf was born on December 1st, 1959 in Germany to parents who were serving our Country in the U.S. Army. Her childhood years in Europe shaped her thinking and as she became an adult was a well-rounded person who thrived in an environment of travel, art and culture. If you named any place, on any continent, Debbie could rattle off facts about that location without having to think about it. Her appreciation for works of art, music and the performing arts such as ballet were gifts that influenced her family and everyone around her.
Our most vivid memories of this wonderful person are those of the holidays….specifically Christmas. This was the most special time of year for her. If you had a desire for Christmas, it was most certain that it was going to happen, she made sure of it. I cannot remember one present that was asked for, by any family member, that went without purchase. She was amazing. Every detail of Christmas from decorating to the food, cards, all family traditions (too numerous to mention) were met and to the highest quality.
It is now our mission and duty to share this incredible lady with the world and to allow you the opportunity to feel the holidays as ONLY Debbie Metcalf could experience it.
If you knew her, you knew that for the last 10 or 11 years of her life, Debbie was very ill. There were numerous stays in the hospital for weeks at a time. The last six and a half years of her life were spent on kidney dialysis, three times per week, four hours at a time. I can’t imagine what that is like, but it dominates your life and you never feel well after your treatment. Despite all the illness, you never would hear her complain, not once. She was always looking forward and always thankful! Debbie went into eternal joy on June 22nd, 2016.
There are many, many children who are on kidney dialysis. My heart goes out to them and their families. We pray that these children are able to have a successful kidney transplant in the upcoming years. Their life is incredibly tough! This page and effort are dedicated to those precious children and to Debbie as my family is determined to honor her in making these children and their families happy at Christmas.
Thank you for giving and for allowing us to share this incredible lady with you!
