Olivia's Seventh Avenue Superstars
Olivia is a spunky, joy filled, seven-year-old first grader who loves horses, being a girl, and NOT being in the hospital - although she “loves the staff at Cook Children’s,” says her mother, Teresa.
Olivia’s journey started almost two year ago when she began having severe abdominal pain and cramping. After a month of doctor visits and misdiagnoses, she ended up in the emergency room at Cook Children’s Medical Center. An x-ray and ultrasound revealed two masses, one in Olivia’s stomach and the other in her chest. A CAT scan and blood work confirmed her family’s worst nightmare – Olivia was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. This blonde haired, blue eyed little girl began chemotherapy on June 8, 2017. During the course of her treatment, Olivia went through an abdominal resection, several bone marrow aspirations and numerous ultrasounds, x-rays, PET scans, CT scans and MRIs.
Today, Olivia is out of the hospital, growing her hair back, riding horses again and enjoying all the things a little girl should be enjoying. She will continue to follow up with her doctors on a regular basis.
