Thank you for visiting the Arden's Allies team page! Your support means so much to us because proceeds of Arden's Allies team at The Blast 2017 will go directly help the neuroblastoma research program at Cook Children's.
On June 2, 2013, our daughter, Arden, was diagnosed with stage 4, high-risk neuroblastoma at 9 months old. She spent 9 months working hard to fight this rare form of cancer. Arden sailed through chemo and radiation treatments, and even learned to walk during her month-long stay in the hospital as she received her bone marrow transplant! Before starting the final phase of treatment, though, she underwent a series of scans which revealed that she had relapsed. The new tumors were too aggressive and too big to beat, and she lost her battle on February 17, 2014.
Unfortunately, the current treatment plan for neuroblastoma (which Arden was enrolled in) gave her an estimated 40% chance of surviving at 4 years from diagnosis without any disease. But for relapse patients like her, whose tumor grows during or after that initial treatment plan, the chance of survival is greatly reduced. Essentially, there are no established effective treatments for relapsed patients like Arden, which is why the trials and research programs at Cook Children's are so important. Let's work together to help find a better, more-effective treatment for neuroblastoma and ensure that no more children have to endure what our daughter did!
